RAP

Reflections and Perception (RAP) is an hour-long women's discussion group that meets at 1:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.  RAP aims to share knowledge, viewpoints, and opinions on a wide variety of topics in a comfortable and enlightened environment. This lively group writes two or three timely, thought-provoking questions on the board and spends the hour discussing the posted subjects.

Story Times

Toddler Time is held Every 2nd Tuesday of the Month with 2 show times:  10:30 and 4:10. This program combines stories, songs, crafts, games and activities for pre-school children and their parents or caregivers.  No need for reservations, just come prepared to sit on the floor with your child and have fun!

Hooks and Needles

A local hobby/craft club! Every Friday until 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. All knitters and crocheters are welcome. Beginners are welcome!

January Kick-off - January 20, 2018

Friends of Bobby Brown Park will hold their January Kick-Off Soup Supper Meeting on Saturday, January 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Danny Guthrie Pavilion located at the park. Everyone is asked to bring a pot of soup and their favorite sandwiches or bread. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect officers for the upcoming year and plan the calendar of activities for 2018. There will also be Bingo after the meeting for those interested in playing Bingo. We hope to see you there!

Emmanuel College Celebrates First Responders Night – January 23, 2018

Please join us in showing your appreciation for our community’s First Responders and cheering on the Emmanuel Lions on Tuesday, January 23rd for Emmanuel College’s Annual First Responders Night!

At this event, all First Responders will receive free admission to both the Lady Lions Basketball game at 5:30p.m. And the Men’s game at 7:30p.m. Along with free admission, all first responders in attendance will be recognized during halftime of the Men’s game for their continued service to our community.

We will also be joined by a dance group from All The Right Moves for a halftime performance and will be collecting canned goods for The Rainbow Food Pantry at the door! So, mark your calendar to help us celebrate our First Responders and say thank you for all that they do for our community on January 23rd!

UGA Ballroom Dancers- February 3, 2018

The Elbert Theatre Foundation is excited to present the University of Georgia Ballroom Performance Group on Sat. Feb. 3rd at 7PM in the Elbert Theatre!  BPG is a pre-professional dance company comprised of 30 fast-moving UGA student dancers, and they all return to the Elbert Theatre to light up the dance floor for one night only!  If you like to watch Latin-inspired style and smooth couples dance routines like ones you’d find on Dancing with the Stars, then you’ll LOVE this show!  Join us for an evening of toe-tapping rhythms and superb choreography!  This event is a fundraiser for the Elbert Theatre Foundation.  Tickets are $15 in advance for adults and $10 for groups and students.  Tickets are $18 at the door.  Call the theatre office at 706-283-1049 or stop by Elberton City Hall at 203 Elbert Street to make your reservations before they’re all gone!  Remember – the earlier you reserve, the better seating choices you have!  Let’s mambo!

Pirates Past Noon Kids Auditions – February 8 & 12, 2018!

Elberton, GA – Do you remember the Magic Tree House series of books for kids?  Well there is a stage version of Pirates Past Noon, and it’s coming to the Elbert Theatre with Encore Junior!  Encore Productions will be having auditions for Pirates Past Noon Kids Thurs. Feb. 8th and  Mon. Feb. 12th in the Elberton Arts Center located at 17 W. St. Elberton, GA 30635.  The director is looking to cast a large group of children in Kindergarten through 5th grades in this short musical version of Jenny Laird’s awesome book.  Any child planning to audition should drop in between 6PM and 8PM on either date and be prepared to read excerpts from the script for Director Toni King.  Those auditioning should also be prepared to sing a short song (1 minute or less) of their choosing with no musical accompaniment. No experience is necessary to audition, and newcomers to the stage are welcome!  Rehearsals for this show will take place 2-3 nights a week Feb. through Apr.  Performances of Pirates Past Noon will be held Apr. 20th – 22nd in the Elbert Theatre.  Please be aware that Encore Productions is a community theatre organization, and all acting roles granted are strictly on a volunteer basis – no paid roles are available.  Please call the Elbert Theatre Office at 706-283-1049 for more audition information.

Show Synopsis: The two siblings return to visit the magic tree house on a dreary, rainy day. They find a book where the sun is shining and the waves are crashing, so they wish to travel to this tropical place. They realize that they are in the eighteenth-century Caribbean, the time of pirates! The siblings meet Captain Bones, a mean old pirate who captures the two and forces them to help him find buried treasure. It's up to Jack and Annie to find their way back to the tree house and make their way home.
