Holiday Bow Tying Class at the Elbert County Public Library – December 13, 2018

5:30 PM

You are invited to learn how to make beautiful & decorative holiday bows to use on wreaths, flower arrangements and gifts. Make the presents under your tree as "picture perfect" as a Hallmark Christmas Movie! The library will provide enough 1.5" wired ribbon for each student to make one large practice bow. If participants wish to make several bows or use ribbon that fits their holiday decor, they will need to supply their own extra ribbon. Our instructor for the evening, Laura Hodge, suggests 1.5" wired ribbon is the easiest to work with for the beginner.

This class is open to adults and youth 12 and up.

Adult Christmas Coloring Contest at the Elbert County Public Library – December 19, 2018

The Elbert County Public Library is holding an Adult Christmas Coloring Contest. Those wishing to prove to all how much their coloring skills have improved since Kindergarten should pick up their coloring sheet at the Elbert County Public Library as soon as possible. Completed coloring sheets must be returned to the Elbert County Library no later 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19. Pictures should have the participants name, e-mail address and/or phone number on only the back of the sheet to ensure anonymity during judging. Prizes will be awarded by a stellar panel of judges yet to be drafted. You have the Library Director's assurance that the judges will be some of Elbert County's finest citizens; however, their taste in art may be questionable! First prize will be a Christmas Ham.  Second place a Pecan Pie.  Third place will be a box of Stove Top Stuffing. Sorry folks, Santa's on a budget this year!

Librarian, Jan Burroughs says, "This contest is a fun excuse to gather with friends over coffee or maybe a glass of wine during the Christmas Holidays to relax and color. The library will have colored pencils and crayons available for use at the library for those who don't have them at home. We want as many adults to participate as possible. The pictures that do not win will be given to residents at area nursing homes to enjoy over the Holiday Season."
